My last Daily Show program will be August the 6th. I will be wearing a suit, I will more than likely be showered.

At the conclusion of last night’s episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart announced that August 6th will be his final show as host.

The longtime anchor of the hit satirical news show announced in February that after 16 years he be leaving The Daily Show.

“I mentioned to you that I would keep you up to date on any new information we had about the transition of the program, all those other things. We do have some specific information,” Stewart said in the closing moments of Monday night’s episode.

“My last Daily Show program will be August the 6th. I will be wearing a suit, I will more than likely be showered,” he said to mostly stunned silence, then broke the tension by joking: “I’m sorry, I’ll be wearing overalls and I won’t shower.

“I hope that you will join us for that program and, as a matter of fact, you can actually join us here in reality,” Stewart said, revealing details of a contest that would allow a viewer to win a trip to New York City to attend the taping of his final episode.

“It’s gonna be a pretty good episode I think. You’ll get flown to New York, put up in a nice hotel, you might even sit here. Maybe I’ll give you a little pair of selfies. All of the money goes to Night of Too Many Stars – New York Collaborates for Autism,” instructing viewers to go to omaze.com/dailyshow to enter. “Maybe I’ll see you here August 6th and we’ll have a nice hug!”
