Hilary Duff Releases New Song “Sparks”

After a few years without gracing our television screens or releasing new music, Hilary Duff has come back with not only a new TV show, but plans to release an album this summer. Duff rose to fame on the hit Disney show The Lizzie Maguire Show as well as a pop artist. She’s starred in some independent and written a series of books, but after the birth of her son she has mainly guest starred on television shows. Younger marks a full return.

Her new TV show, Younger (based on the book by Pamela Redmond Satran), premiered last week on TV Land. It’s about a newly single mother (played by Sutton Foster) who wants to get back in the work force, but finds trouble due to her age. So, instead she decides to fake being 26 and lands herself a job at the publication company. Duff plays a character that takes Foster under her wing and tries to help her navigate the murky waters of the working world. The show was surprisingly good with a cast that has good chemistry and a really creative plot. It’s also funny on top of everything else. The show also gave Duff the chance to preview her new single “Sparks.” A clip was first featured in a promo for the series and the song officially dropped a few days ago. Duff sticks to her pop roots, but her sound has matured. Over the past few months Duff has released two other singles (“Chasing the Sun” and “All About You”) from her fifth studio album, This Heart. The songs are all really fun and playful and show the ease at which Duff can reinsert back into popular culture. Duff’s comeback is definitely one to follow.
