Day 1: It Begins…

Coachella kicked off this past weekend at Indo, California’s Empire Polo Club and the variety of talent was to die for. The annual music and arts festival broke ground Friday April 10 and thousands gathered in the field to catch performers such as headliners AC/DC, Flying Lotus, Steely Dan, and much more.

Vic Mensa was first to take the stage and started the show off the right way because he was just so energetic. He performed two unreleased Kanye West collaborations, “Wolves” and “U Mad,” and this track specifically accrued over 300,000 Soundcloud plays within that day.

Shortly after Mensa’s highly energetic set Action Bronson kept the adrenaline of the crowd going with his habitually unpredictable crowd interactions. “You wanna touch my beard you mothafuckin’ weirdo?” he yells after one fan outright grabs his red beard. Nonetheless he then turned around and made out with a random female concertgoer for a few seconds, oh the irony.

Azealia Banks’ unexpectedly great performance shocked many as she is usually known for her twitter rants and recent outlandish remarks in her interview with Billboard magazine. From her spicy rap lyrics to the on point choreography, her time to shine out did the other rap sets of the day.

Day 2: It Continues…

Cashmere Cat set the vibe right on Saturday April 11 with a mind-blowing mix of chillwave and dance music. The crowd managed to pass up a unicorn head and offered it to the Cashmere Cat but he politely declined. Most of his performance combined smooth R&B but he certainly changed it up throughout and included a sample of Aqua’s throwback “Barbie Girl” and then crisply mixed it with his song “Party Girls” featuring Ludacris, Jeremih, and Wiz Khalifa.

The Sahara Tent was home of one of the days hugest sing-alongs when French producer performed his version of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness,” which thrived in the Top 10 on Billboards Hot 100 chart.

More on the artistic side of things, across the field there was some installation art, an abridged three-story building titled “Corporate Headquarters.” This piece featured actors dressed in corporate attire and horse masks tiredly executing work task whether it be a board meeting or boring cubicle things. This installation symbolized the masses who work jobs that they do not particularly enjoy.

Day 3: The Home Run..

The last day of weekend one was bittersweet mainly because we were having such a great time, but have to wait until the next Friday to relive the fun. David Guetta kept it pumping Sunday and surprised everyone when he brought out Black Eyed Peas. He eventually incorporated tons of raps songs into his set like Big Sean’s “I Don’t Fuck With You,” his own version of “Hey Mama” featuring Nicki Minaj and Wiz Khalifa’s “We Dem Boyz.”

Others that took the stage that day were Marina & The Diamonds, Vance Joy, Ryan Adams and Kaskade. Vance Joy surprised fans at the Mojave tent when he performed his Top 40 hit “Riptide.”

Drake & Madonna Kiss @ Coachella

Drake took it home that Sunday evening and Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” first song on his pre-set playlist created a crowd wide rap-along to the timeless hit. The weekend went home with a bang when the scandalous Madonna! comes to the stage as a solo guest and gives the rapper an aggressive kiss that lasted pretty long! After the two finished making out she looks to the crowd and shouts “Bitch, I’m Madonna!” and then walks off the stage.
