Many might not recognize the name Henry Edward Streten but they already love his music and spin on today’s popular songs. Better known by his stage name, Flume, Streten is an Australian electronic record producer and DJ. Flume has two studio albums and remixes songs by a variety artists such as Lorde, Sam Smith, Arcade Fire, and Disclosure.
Electronic Dance Music is rarely heard on the radio, but this hasn’t hindered EDM artists in the past. EDM artists including Flume use free streaming sites like SoundCloud. These worldwide streaming sites gave the entire world access to Flume’s music. His electronic dance tracks went from 10,000 plays to 150,000 million plays and left him speechless. After releasing his debut self-titled album, Flume, under independent Australian Future Classic record label, he went on six North American tours playing major festivals like Bonnaroo and Governors Ball. Flume peaked at number 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, the main Australian music sales chart, in 2012. Soon after this release, Flume signed with Mom + Pop Music, and independent American record label, to plan his album’s release in North America. On May 27th, 2016, Flume released his second album, Skin, featuring artists Tove Lo, Kai, Little Dragon, Beck, and more. Skin has reached number 8 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums. Flume is currently on a world tour and will be making a stop at our very own Forest Hills Tennis Stadium on August 27th, so make sure to get your tickets before it sells out!
