Well, it’s happening. The highly anticipated phase one lineup for the 2016 Okeechobee Music Festival has been released. Florida has more than its fair share of festivals in Aura, Tortuga, EDC Orlando and Ultra among others, but Okeechobee is shaping up to be something special.
Taking place in central Florida during the first weekend in March – early enough as to not interfere with WMC – a partial lineup packed so full of talent that it makes you wonder who they could possibly be holding off on telling us about was announced a few days ago.
From rap stars like Kendrick Lamar, Future and Fettywap to EDM heavy hitters Skrillex and Gramatik, a killer collaboration between the bizarre matchups of Big Boi and Phantogram in Big Grams, to jazz bands and jam bands like Lotus and indie success stories a la Mumford & Sons and Portugal. The Man, there’s sure to be something for every musical preference. And that’s just the music.
Larger than life art installations, curious crafts, unique food vendors and fun events like massive yoga sessions have been mentioned. Besides the five different stages hosting over 80 acts, there’s going to be a handful of unique venues created throughout the grounds to capture and immerse festival goers even further. The festival overview is pretty cheeky and does a thorough job of answering any questions you might have.
At $269.50 for the weekend, which includes camping, the price is a bargain and considering the people putting on Okeechobee are some of the originals behind Bonnaroo, things should go pretty smoothly. Limited phase two tickets are still available and going fast, get yours here. Who’s in?
