[mashshare]

Whether you’re visiting New York City for the week, summer, or live here, we all have one thing in common– trying to enjoy everything this wonderful city has to offer without hurting our wallets! Manhattan has plenty from bars and restaurants to Broadway shows, but right now let’s highlight take a look at some of the free events in the city.

Arts Brookfield enhances public spaces through the display of free cultural experiences and art exhibits throughout Brookfield’s premier buildings throughout the world. With 7 venues in New York City, Arts Brookfield will host multiple free exhibitions at Brookfield Place New York, Grace Building, One New York Plaza, Zuccotti Park, and 245 Park.

The Swings: An Exercise in Musical Corporation, an interactive art installation, is open to the public from June 10th to July 7th, 12:00 to 8:00 pm. After browsing the shops in Brookfield Place, walk outside and enjoy a view of the water while swinging on a musical swing set! Each swing represents one of four instruments– piano, guitar, harp, and vibraphone. The seats trigger sounds as participants swing back and forth, creating a collaborative music masterpiece. Be sure to get on line before 7:30 because the line will be cut off to ensure everyone gets a chance to experience the swings.

Air Pressure is an art exhibition depicting over 100 fabric forms of flying, moving birds inside Brookfield Place. This kinetic sculpture installation creates the visual effect of flying with each wing of every bird moving in a flapping motion so make sure to look up as you browse the shops! This exhibition is open from June 27th until September 12th.
