In an interview on BBC Radio 1 with Zane Lowe, Chris Martin announced that Coldplay are currently working on their seventh and likely final album.
Tentatively titled A Head Full of Dreams, the album will be the followup to Ghost Stories which they did not tour to promote. Martin says the band plans to do a world tour to promote the new album.
Although he did not 100% rule out more the possibility for more Coldplay albums sometime in the future, he did have this to say:
It’s our seventh thing and it’s, I mean the way we look at it is like, the last Harry Potter book or something. Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something and … it was great go from Ghost Stories to go right back in the studio. Now we’re making things that … sound different and … it’s just a very fun time to be in our band. I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it. Do you see what I mean? Then we will go on tour.
